A lot of businesses offer work-from-home opportunities. Among all the other benefits that working from home gives the employees, some of the most important is avoiding traffic, not having to wake up earlier, and getting ready. But to increase the efficiency of your work and your life as well, you should create a productive and healthy routine. For all of you who are looking to create a healthier lifestyle while working from home, we have conducted a list of five ways to create a healthier working from home routine based on the research we have done.
1. Do the hard things first.
In the book called Eat that frog, the author Brian Tracy says that doing the hardest things first gives you a boost of motivation and helps you to finish the other things as well. This way the hardest things you had to do throughout the day you have done in the morning and everything else that you have to do will seem easy for you and you’re more likely to finish them all. And most importantly, this will give you time to do other things.
2. Create a to-do list.
Write down everything you have to do. First, start by writing the things you have to do for the day and as you finish each one of them, mark them as completed. You will feel better and more productive after each one of the things you’ve done and you will be more motivated to finish everything that is left on the To-Do List. Schedule everything and set a deadline for every task so that you know how much time you should spend on doing them. Then create a to-do list for the week. This way you can plan everything ahead.
You can also take a break after every task you have finished. On every one of these breaks, you can plan to do something different. Something that is fun for you to do but healthy at the same time. For example, you can drink a big glass of water on every break you take. This way you’ll stay hydrated and more focused.
3. Establish a clean workspace.
Maintaining a clean desk while working will help you have a clear mind and also be more focused. Be sure that you don’t have anything that will distract you. For example, make sure that you have no TV in your working room and pay attention to opening the window for fresh air. Also, try to put everything that you need while working within reach so that you don’t have to get up and get them and be distracted on the way.
4. Stay active
In order to stay healthy, you should stay active. While working at home you are more likely to walk less and to be less active physically. But to create a healthy lifestyle and a healthy routine while working from home you have to change that. So, after you finish the work be sure that every day you work out for at least 45 minutes a day. You can create a little gym at your home by just adding a few pieces of equipment in the corner of your room. In order to not forget you can put, for example, a dumbbell set in the corner of your room where you can see it. This way you will be reminded that you have to work out every time you see them. You can also go out and take a walk after you finish your work.
5. Get everything ready the night before.
How you finish your day plays a big role in how you will start the other. So the greatest tip on being productive is getting everything ready for the other day, the night before. Make sure that your Home Office is clean and everything is in its place so that when you start working tomorrow you will be some steps ahead because you don’t have to tidy up your space. Write your To Do List for tomorrow on the night before as well, so that you will go to sleep knowing what you will be doing tomorrow and you will wake up with the intention of doing them.
Working from home can be so beneficial for you if you manage your time and plan your day in the right way. So, try applying these tips to your day and you can create new ways to make your routine healthier, as you go.
